It's National Pasta Day!

It's National Pasta Day!

October 25th is the day to celebrate everyone's favourite Italian comfort food: pasta!

Pizza may be an easy and fun dinner for the family, but there's nothing that beats the versitility of pasta. In every shape and size, every colour, and every flavour, here are 4 of our favourite pasta dishes that'll have you gasping "Brava!"

4. Spinach Ravioli with Porcini Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a bit like marmite, you either love 'em or hate 'em. For the mushroom lovers among you, it's difficult to do any better than a spinach and mushroom ravioli. Little parcels packed full of vegetarian flavours, these ravioli are perfectly wrapped gifts from the best of nature itself.

3. Spaghetti Carbonara

No one really knows where the creamy Pasta Carbonara got its name; some say the Roman restaurant Carbonara invented the dish and loved it so much they gave it their own name, others say it's named after the carbonaros, the charcoal sellers who sold the fuel that provided the heat to cook the pork. Either way, we know one thing: it's absolutely delicious!

2. Green Lemon Ravioli With A Lemon & Butter Sauce

Who says pasta has to be yellow? We think pasta shouldn't be limited by the traditional spectrum of colours – so why not give green a go? Full of citrus flavour, the bright colour of this pasta makes it extra fresh, and will make you think spring's come early.

1. Gnocchi with Pesto

Speaking of rebellion against the traditions of pasta, why should pasta even have to be pasta? A tasty potato-based alternative is gnocchi – which, covered with delicious homemade pesto is a real treat for the senses. All the flavours you associate with a classic pasta dish, but with a much richer, creamier texture. Elevate your ordinary pesto pasta into the stratosphere with a little gnocchi – it may be National Pasta Day, but we give you permission!
